Fun LED Home Decor

The craze for LED lighting is not simply about finding a more efficient and therefore cheaper way to light your home, it is also about bringing a bit of fun, glamour, and elegance into your interior decorating. LED lighting can approximate the look of neon, and for the adventurous at heart there are many LED products that can add light and drama to the most boring room of your house.

The bathroom is one place in particular that you might not think of using LED technology as a mood enhancer. However, there are several products now on the market that will light up your bathroom in a way you never dreamed possible! How about a matching bathtub and sink that literally glow with bright neon colors that slowly transform from green to blue to red, all on their own? Children in particular love these tubs, which are made from polyethylene with a built in LED light that is fully programmable.

Bathroom faucets are another popular place for LED technology, and many products are as much art in their design as they are thoughtful in their function! Some of these faucets are clear, using LED colors to light up the inside as well as the water as it comes out. These lit faucets can easily serve a dual purpose as a nightlight as well. Other faucets can show the temperature of the water, from cold to hot, by displaying different shades of blue and red. The shower is another popular place to provide LED illumination, with LED lit shower heads being very popular. These can typically be programmed for light intensity and color rotation, and are wonderful for relaxation.

You could also try adding something funky in the kitchen, such as a glass table with a smattering of LED light bulbs, or perhaps an illuminated kitchen faucet or rangehood. With LED the technology of the future, it is only natural that interior designers are finding ways to use colored light to add fun and elegance to a room.

As someone who sells light bulbs for a living, I am really excited about LEDs because of my concerns about the mercury content in compact fluorescent lightbulbs. The development of LED technology presents a viable alternative to compact fluorescents: longer-lasting lightbulbs without dangerous chemical content.
